Welcome to Choices!
My name is Luke Walsh and I am the Director and Support Worker at Choices Support Work WA. I have eight years experience working in the mental health and disability space including experience as a Support Worker, Support Coordinator and Local Area Coordinator. I also have a Bachelor of Psychology from Curtin University and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Murdoch University.
I work in a Person-Centered way using active listening techniques to build strong professional relationships with the participants I support as well as their Stakeholders. I am able to balance duty of care obligations with the dignity of risk of the participant to maximize a participant’s choices within safe boundaries.
I have experience working with adults with mental heath conditions, Autism, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, physical disabilities and a host of other conditions.
I take a chunking approach to help participants achieve their goals, by breaking down big goals into smaller manageable steps, according to what is comfortable for the participant.
With my experience working in the disability sector I can empower you to be the leader of your own support network, and present you with the options so that you can choose how you’d like your supports delivered.
